Introducing: The Borrowed Earth Project

COP26andbeyond has a new name, we are now “The Borrowed Earth Project

This change has been in the works for a while. It is now two years since COP26 was held in Glasgow, and while we were set up in 2020 to help young people understand that COP and how they could influence it and make a difference, we are now well into the post-COP “beyond”.

Our new name is inspired by a quote, said to be a Lakota proverb but also variously ascribed to Wendell Berry the novelist and environmentalist, or even Oscar Wilde:

“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, but borrow it from our children.”

Whoever first said it, it rings true for us.

Our aims with this site remain to inform, engage & inspire people, especially young people passionate about making a difference, to help solve our climate crisis and other environmental phenomena like biodiversity loss.

We believe more and more climate action is moving away from the formal COP processes, with civil society, communities, schools, companies, investors and our own social groups being the real drivers of climate action in the years to come.

Our core topics remain as climate law, the energy transition, education & opportunities, politics & negotiations, and biodiversity, underpinned by climate science.

We will continue to look for fantastic guests to interview and contribute guest blogs, and we welcome you getting in touch via our updated social media links at the top and bottom of the page (if you are already a follower - then the links will automatically update for you)

You can also subscribe to our monthly newsletter to stay informed on what we have been posting here, as well as see our recommendations for new articles, podcasts & videos.
